About Emmy
Hello! My name is Emmy Poppitz (They/She). I'm an illustrator, crafter, and storyteller working out of my home studio in Vancouver, Washington.
My art is often inspired by my childhood growing up on a farm in rural Oregon. When I wasn't gallivanting through the vegetable garden or playing under a canopy of cherry trees, I was drawing relentlessly and creating stories of my own. My work is drenched in foliage, fantasy, creepy crawlies, and creatures of folklore. My ultimate goal in storytelling is to weave messages of belonging and inclusivity into witty fantastical narratives.
Since graduating with my bachelor's degree in psychology from Oregon State University in 2023, I've been working as a children's bookseller for two wonderful independent bookstores in Oregon. When I'm not in the stacks recommending books to kiddos in my community, you can find me drawing at my desk surrounded by 26 years' worth of knick-knacks and art supplies.
